CarChoice ("CarChoice," "we," "us," or "our") operates this website (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

What we don't collect

You can use our guided search and "Ask CarChoice" chat tool without creating an account and without giving us your name, email address, or phone number. The budget, body style, features, and other answers you enter are processed entirely in your own browser to generate your matches — they are not transmitted to or stored on our servers, and we don't build a profile of you from them.

Information collected automatically

CarChoice does not currently run advertising and does not use cookies to track or profile visitors. Our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information as part of normal web server operation, such as:

  • IP address and approximate location (city/region level)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages viewed and the date and time of your visit

This information is used only in aggregate, to keep the Site secure and understand overall traffic — for example, how many people visited and which pages they viewed. It is not used to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with any other information about you.

Cookies and future advertising

We may introduce advertising or aggregate traffic analytics on CarChoice in the future to help keep the Site free to use. If we do, any advertiser will have no access to, and no influence over, our vehicle matching algorithm or recommendations — buying an ad on the Site would be a completely separate transaction from how we rank or recommend any vehicle. Before that happens, we'll update this policy to disclose exactly what's collected, which partners are involved, and how to opt out, including tools like Google Ads Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out, and the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser's settings, though some parts of the Site may not work as well without them.

How we use information

We use the limited technical information described above to operate, secure, and improve the Site, and to understand aggregate usage trends. We do not use it to sell leads, and we do not share it with car dealers or manufacturers in exchange for payment.

Sharing of information

We don't sell your personal information to dealers, car sellers, or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of CarChoice or our users. If we add advertising or analytics partners in the future, this section will be updated to name them and link to their own privacy policies.

Your privacy choices

California residents: Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request deletion of it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. CarChoice does not currently sell or share personal information in this way; if that changes when we introduce advertising, you'll be able to exercise this choice using the opt-out tools above or by contacting us below.

EEA, UK, and Swiss residents: Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information. Contact us below to exercise these rights.

Everyone: You can adjust cookie preferences in your browser at any time, and use the ad-industry opt-out tools above to limit personalized advertising across the web, not just on CarChoice.

Children's privacy

CarChoice is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.

Third-party links

The Site may reference or link to third-party content, including manufacturer or dealer websites you choose to visit on your own. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we don't operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
